I had a lot of fun working on this film editing project. I learned how to go about preparing for a shoot, what I should and shot not do in editing the film, how to present it, and of course the voice over and sound levels.
What I learned is that writing the script first is a must. I learned how I should handle the camera and I should have let the camera roll longer on some shots to give me a better opportunity to tell the story.
I'm grateful for what I learned on this project and can't wait to get started on another video project.

I thought it was a nice effort for your first time shooting. You need to look for more cutaways. You had way too many dissolves and wipes. If you are going to use a wipe pattern stay away from the star wipes, heart wipes..etc. Keep the transitions simple. A quick dissolve of five frames or less would have looked a lot better. In the future you need to tighten up your shots a little. Most of your highlights were too wide. You showed the ability to follow the ball with the camera, which is good for a beginner. The diction was good for the narrated portion of your project. The dialog was written well. You had an interesting joke about cancer. I thought that was a bold move for such a taboo subject. The post game interviews added a nice touch to your video project. Unfortunately, the interviews were poorly lit and the focus was soft at best. I appreciate your willingness to try new things. I hope you had a fun time shooting your first major college basketball game. Was this your first time using a camcorder?
Good effort on the video and audio of your story. Have to agree with Phil about the wipes, not a good idea, not quick enough plus you lose attention need quick cuts. Easier to start another audio sequence, don't have to wait for the video and audio to catch up to each other.
Good movement with the ball, closer comes with time,( my thought: I do not know why sports high lights have to be shot on the level, most games that are televised shot from above the floor. You can see more and don't have to fight the crowd after a basket to see the player who shot it.)
Think Phil hit it on the head with the interviews about the focus.
In Carol's class she told us something about SWAP Synchronized WORDS AND PICTURES, in the middle (after a second look) the picture and what you were talking about were off, not a big thing, just noticed it........
But I'd say a great job for the first try, hope you enjoyed it, you get a different view from the view finder..............
