Among the bubbly feelings that brewed in my mind before attending Idaho State, like thoughts of anxiety, nervousness, and uncertainty to name a few, one of the most intriguing things I thought about before attending a decent sized division I school was the opportunities to see the athletic events. A couple of months ago I got my hands on the 2007-08 schedule for our men's and women's basketball teams. You could easily compare my excitement to those kids you see walking out of Albertsons grocery with a sugary substance in hand, I was beside myself! The men put together a powerhouse non-conference schedule with games vs Washington State, at Washington, at UCLA, at Iowa, and at Utah. Those are some prime-time programs! Despite not having beat any of them, it didn't fail to give me a prelude jolt to March Maddness.
The lady Bengals are 10-5 (2-1) and have a couple of key wins over Pac-10 teams in UCLA and Oregon State. I have never enjoyed watching women's basketball, but to be honest, our ladies have given me a whole new perspective that I will definitely want to look into.
Let the games begin, or actually, continue.

The women's athletics have impressed and continue to impress me; generally receiving less recognition and funding than most male athletic programs, they continue to achieve.
I thought you may also want to know the use of "Lady Bengals" is frowned upon, as some find it demeaning and trite.
It doesn't really matter to me how you choose to refer to the female athletes. I thought you may want to know that it is discouraged.
The advisor for the newspaper (who also covers sports professionally for the university)informed me that terming them "Lady Bengals" was not considered respectful (as intended) but demeaning. And trite in that it is considered stereotypical and banal.
I thought the information may prove useful in preventing you from alienating people or coming across poorly. I realize now, however, that this may be inevitable for you.
