Minor league baseball
It has been fifteen long years since the gate city has had a minor league baseball team. Pocatello has a rich baseball history dating back to the early 20th century. The original stadium was located near where the city hall building is now located. The current park, located on the western edge of town, was home to legendary players and coaches like Tommy Lasorda. Unfortunately that stadium has deteriorated and would not be ideal for hosting a professional team. I have spoken with a few investors who have talked about the possibility of building a stadium on Union Pacific property in old town Pocatello. The idea has picked up momentum recently with the announcement of a new softball stadium at ISU. The idea of building a baseball facility adjacent to the new complex has been discussed.

Pocatello should have a minor league baseball team. Halliwell is an awesome park to play at, but is getting very old. The city should look into creating a new park. Baseball is very strong in Poky and a new field could help younger players benefit if they have older more experienced players to watch.
I agree with both of you but with the Holt arena bond got shot down do you honest think that the tightwad citizens of this city would approve money for a new stadium if and when a team ever comes back?
I really think you should reserve judgment on the people of this town being tightwads until you own your own home and have people pandering you all the time for money.
Now a better argument might be that if the people of this community aren't willing to shell out money for a college game then they aren't going to shell out money for a baseball team.
I really think a little more research should go into incomes and what people are spending their money on before we start throwing out labels
good point dave It's just a perception on my part. It just appears this way because every time an issue like this comes up like this is fails and always comes down to money. But on the other side of the argument if the money was spent on something like this it would be a great thing for the community and I wonder if thought process would help to get things like a baseball stadium or holt arena funded. Just a thought on my part.
